BBCFour (virgin cable)>Philips stand alone DVD rec>Menu, chapters & burned using Magix movie edit pro. A Film by Don Letts about Gil Scott-Heron Split into seven parts. Notes respectfully stolen from the BBC website: Gil Scott-Heron was one of the most influential musicians and poets of the last 50 years. In Don Letts's documentary, Gil tells his own story for the first time - from being one of the first black children to integrate an all-white Southern state school to becoming the Godfather of Rap. There are contributions from Chuck D, Mos Def, Richie Havens and the Last Poets, among others. Filmed in October 2003, Gil performs live and recites poetry out on the streets of Harlem, which have inspired so much of his music. Scott-Heron's confrontational, no-nonsense street poetry and songwriting skills have inspired the modern Hip-Hop generation. He is perhaps best known for his two 1970s RnB flavoured chart hits - The Bottle and Johannesburg - but his work includes more than 20 albums and two novels. Gil has documented, and in many cases anticipated, the massive political and social changes in the United States with anger and integrity. This programme features concert footage and contributions from disciples such as Chuck D and Mos Def. Scott-Heron was born in Chicago in 1949 The musician published two novels, satirical thrillers called The Vulture and The Nigger Factory Small Talk at 125th and Lenox was his first collection of poetry, the work was set to music and released as an album which subsequently earned Scott-Heron the title of "the godfather of rap" He provided the voice for the well-known advert "You know when you've been Tangoed" He received a prison sentence for the possession of cocaine and refused rehabilitation as an alternative to jail ; wholefile md5 checksum file generated by Trader's Little Helper ; generated on June 30, 2011, at 21:10:18 d409fd222588b5943c94f009fcf32e76 *VIDEO_TS.BUP d409fd222588b5943c94f009fcf32e76 *VIDEO_TS.IFO 973bf9ca3d696ed9a15a6c0ec9a4d02c *VIDEO_TS.VOB a56bcb621982e9ad72c2789fdf72ae10 *VTS_01_0.BUP a56bcb621982e9ad72c2789fdf72ae10 *VTS_01_0.IFO 29f795c8a34c4dd6a1db5783b3014aff *VTS_01_0.VOB f2f21776573f300f67a816523976600d *VTS_01_1.VOB 896e32144c1a91aaa1ac25609f9a9797 *VTS_01_2.VOB 9d4686628ea780bb9da616b8e5062d35 *VTS_01_3.VOB e83f3996caa7b0e354e6ca3664f7b2fd *VTS_01_4.VOB GSpot says: DVD VOB format MPEG-2Program Stream << (1 vid, 1 aud) Sys Bitrate 10080 kb/s VBR 8469 kbps I/L TFF PAL 16:9 AC3 0xbd(0x80):48000Hz 384 kb/s tot. stereo (2/0) Play It LOUD!
